New Ways of Understanding Nuclear Energy Technology -
The Office of Nuclear Energy is developing modern tools for advanced modeling and simulation
that employ science-based (first-principles) algorithms running on state of the art high-performance
computers. While the present nuclear power modeling and simulation tools are adequate, significant
improvements in plant operations, economics and safety may be realized with the application
of advanced modeling and simulation techniques.
