Surface Decontamination

Project description: Laser processing technology for decontamination of surfaces.
Category: internal R&D project

Surface decontamination with laser

Surface decontamination with laser.
(see larger size image).

Fiber-optic beam-delivery systems for multi-kilowatt Nd:YAG laser beams are being developed both for both the manufacturing sector and to handle processing functions in the decontamination and decommissioning of nuclear reactors and contaminated sites. Integrated beam-handling systems are being developed to contain the radioactive effluent that results from the beam's interaction with the contaminated workpiece.
