Nuclear engineer Elia Merzari
Apr. 9, 2014
Elia Merzari, nuclear engineer, was recently selected by the American Nuclear Society
(ANS) to receive the 2014 Landis Young Member Engineering Achievement Award. Elia Merzari receives
the Landis Award in recognition of his pacesetting contributions to simulation of complex turbulent
flows and multi-scale/multi-physics simulations of nuclear reactor designs. The award will be
presented to Merzari at the ANS Annual Meeting in Reno, NV (June 2014).
The Landis Award recognizes an individual who has made significant technical contributions in any one of the many engineering disciplines served by the Society. The attainment can be in the form of a new principle, concept, design, method of analysis, product emanating from research or development, or from effective application of engineering knowledge to yield a commercial service or product needed in the nuclear energy enterprise. Emphasis is placed on achievement demonstrating a high degree of technical merit and ingenuity.
The Nuclear Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory congratulates Elia on this distinguished achievement.
