Mark Nutt named Technical Director for DOE Nuclear Fuels Storage and Transportation Planning Project

Principal nuclear engineer Mark Nutt was recently named National Technical Director for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy's Nuclear Fuels Storage and Transportation (NFST) Planning Project.
The NFST mission is to lay the groundwork for implementing interim storage, including associated transportation, per the Administration’s Strategy for the Management and Disposal of Used Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Radioactive Waste, and to develop a foundation for a new nuclear waste management organization.
Dr. Nutt has over 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry with 15 years primarily in the area of used nuclear fuel management. He has lead and participated in a wide range of projects related to the management and disposal of nuclear waste. He has been an active participant in the DOE-NE Fuel Cycle Technology program for the past 8 years and served as the Deputy National Technical Director of the DOE-NE Used Fuel Disposition Research and Development Campaign. Prior to joining Argonne in 2006, Dr. Nutt spent 10 years supporting the DOE Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (OCRWM). Dr. Nutt is familiar with at-reactor fuel management processes, experience gained as the lead fuels engineer for the St. Lucie nuclear power station.
